Easter Island
by Jennifer Vanderbes
Oh jeeze I'm so behind. I read this book a month ago, while in NYC and FL. It's a nice book, that feels like it could go on just one more chapter. Lovely nonetheless. A compassionate scientific mind as protagonist, gets a grant to do research on Easter Island and recover from a strange breakup with her husband. What I loved most was how, despite set on an exotic island, her job is just kind of another job. Not strange, or amazingly groundbreaking (well it kind of was, she took core samples), or bizaare, or immoral. Just a job: getting dirt, hours in the lab looking at the dirt.
